Film: Boy I Am - Chicago, IL
In continuation of our exploration of gender and sexuality in contemporary society the Women's Studies/Philosophy 468-Gender and Sexuality course would like to invite you to a screening of Boy I Am with a post show discussion with director, Sam Feder and editor, Jules Rosskam.
Boy I Am is a compelling and provocative look at the place of trans issues within the larger queer community. This riveting documentary focuses on the lives of three transmen as they prepare for their transitions and questions how the emergence of FtM visibility affects the dyke community they have come from. Their stories serve as the backdrop for interviews with leading gender theorists, journalists, activists, lawyers, and professors including Judith "Jack" Halberstam, author of Female Masculinity.
