Madison County Board Adds Transgender to Affirmative Action Ordinance
[MADISON, WI] ? An amendment adding a definition of sexual orientation to Dane County's Affirmative Action Ordinance passed on a unanimous voice vote on August 2.
The AAO had sexual orientation as a protected class but did not define sexual orientation. The amendment passed on Aug. 2 defines sexual orientation as homosexuality, heterosexuality, bisexuality and gender identity by preference or practice.
The definition of gender identity included in the amendment is similar to the definition passed by the City of Madison last year.
The amendment went before four county committees and was recommended for adoption by each one.
County Executive Kathleen Falk will hold a brief signing ceremony on Friday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. in the County Executive's Conference Room.
