Pro-trans Bill Expected in Connecticut
[HARTFORD, CT] - When the Connecticut General Assembly starts its new session on Jan. 8, gay activists there are expecting a new bill to be introduced that would add transgender people to the statewide hate-crimes statute.
Anne Stanback from Love Makes a Family, a gay lobbying group, said she expects the legislation to be introduced -- which would mark the first time for such a measure in Connecticut.
Sexual orientation is already included in the Connecticut hate-crimes bill that passed in 1990.
