Transgender Group to Hold Civil Rights March in Michigan
[LANSING, MI] A national transgender group launched by a Lansing woman plans to march to the state Capitol Saturday to push cities to adopt anti-discrimination laws.
Melissa Sue Robinson formed the National Association for the Advancement of Transgendered People in December and now has more than 100 members.
Robinson is pushing Lansing to adopt a civil rights ordinance that bans discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.
"There are cities across the nation with anti-discrimination ordinances," said Robinson, a transsexual. "Why can't Lansing?"
