Description:
A memoir from the 1970s punk drag queen Jayne County, who grew up in Georgia and assumed feminine dress and makeup in the mid-1960s. In New York City, County rioted at Stonewall the same summer he attended Woodstock. With roommates like Warhol icons Holly Woodlawn and Jackie Curtis, County learned the finer points of cross dressing and outrageousness that would serve her well in her segue into the punk world. Drained by amphetamines and punk life itself, County watched her career slide; she did some prostitution in 1980s Berlin and London. Now recording and performing once again, County discusses openly her use of female hormones and her decision not to undergo sex-change surgery.
