We are Indiana University's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Student Union on the Bloomington campus.

OUT exists to promote the welfare of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) students, faculty, staff, and administrators at Indiana University - Bloomington (IUB), and of the gay, lesbian, bisexua l, and transgendered community at large. This is accomplished in the following ways:

• By providing information and education for the GLBT community as well as the larger community,
• by providing support and referral, particularly for GLBT students
• by engaging in political action and social reform for GLBT causes
• by existing as a social organization for the GLBT community.

In the past, OUT has taken the lead on many controversial campus topics, such as the inclusion of sexual orientation in the University's non-discrimination clause, the creation of the GLBT Support Services Office, and advocating for domestic partnerships' health insurance/benefits and living arrangements in campus housing.

OUT has no membership fees or dues. Anyone regardless of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, sexual identity, sexual preference, age, religion, national origin, ethnic origin, or disability is welcome to join.

OUT is governed by an executive board consisting of elected and appointed OUT officials. The positions are President, Internal Vice-President, External Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director of Publicity. There are also numerous appointed positions within the organization. The philosophy of the group is to be as inclusive as possible. No one will be turned away from playing an active role in the planning and implementation of OUT events.
