Transgender and Intersex Visibility Initiative

Description:
The Transgender & Intersex Visibility initiative helps GLAAD achieve its mission by focusing on and advocating for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of transgender and intersex people in the media.

GLAAD consistently covers transgender and intersex issues in GLAADAlert and GLAADLines. GLAAD also has a Language and Resource Guide for Media Professionals which includes a detailed section on transgender and intersex terminology and contact information for national organizations. Our Education and Training department has conducted several trainings for transgender and intersex activists on how to effectively work with the media. On the Hollywood front, Scott Seomin, GLAAD?s Entertainment Media Director, has consulted on several television and film projects, offering advice on creating multi-dimensional, non-stereotypical transgender characters.

GLAAD's MediaFocus: Transgender & Intersex Visibility is an initiative of the Cultural Interest Media Project which focuses on the diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.
